What’s On My Mind

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

“What’s On My Mind” is a personal archive of memory spanning the last 20 years of Engin Kafadar, consisting of sketches, notes, scribbles, and recollections.
This exhibition brings together expressions that emerge freely from within—unburdened by the anxiety of being liked or the obligation of meaning. It aims to evoke the notes of the past, the drafts of the present, and the memories of the future simultaneously.

This special selection, which invites the viewer to appreciate the unfinished, and embrace the aesthetics of slowness and sincerity, can be seen at Red Rouge Art between April 12–26.

What’s On My Mind

These are thoughts and lines
that came from the mind and pen of someone
who has spent years trying to make an idea likable,
trying to meet expectations,
and doing so over and over again, every single day.
Free from the pressure to please,
without expectations
not even chasing meaning.
Connecting dots
without thinking about
where they were born
or where they might end up.
Without calculating direction,
without the need to invent a story afterward.
Notes from the past,
drafts of the present,
and memories of the future.
What’s On My Mind
what I’ve shared
and what I’ve only told myself.
